Overview

The Camas Band program consists of three concert bands, two jazz bands, one marching band, pep band, drumline, pit orchestra, brass choir, and other small student groups as arranged during the school year.

School-day classes include zero-period jazz bands and (seasonally) brass choir and pit orchestra; concert band and symphonic band (which combine to form the marching band during the fall months); a limited-member wind ensemble beginning in January (after auditions in December). Student musicians have the opportunity to audition for All-State and All-Northwest honor bands each year and participate in the district/state solo/ensemble contest.

Various musical and performing styles are taught during the year, including marching techniques and halftime field shows; parade marching techniques; basketball/volleyball pep band; traditional and modern wind band literature, and even great orchestral works.

Highlights of the band year include August's marching band camp, September's Husky Band Day at the University of Washington, playing at home football games, marching in holiday parades, and concerts throughout the year. The band's holiday concert in December is a favorite of parents, and the year-end concert in June features a big-time finale. An all-jazz-bands concert in May includes the jazz bands from Camas middle schools as well. Drumline members keep busy performing for various sporting events all year long.

In addition, the band performs in Disneyland and Walt Disney World during spring break in odd-numbered years. The last tour was April, 2015, to Walt Disney World. The upcoming 2017 tour will include a tour of Hollywood, having fun and performing in Disneyland, and kicking back on Catalina Island!
